My babies have always wanted to feed themselves…from day one. So, at the young ages of 6 & 7 months I never really fed them that much. But I do love it when they get to be about 8 months old and can start picking up tiny chunks of soft food. This is where we are with our little boy right now. He is 8 months old and tonight he ate soft, mashed up cantaloupe and loved it. I usually have to give him food on his tray to keep his hands occupied while I spoon feed him but I’m not worried about him getting full from solid food because breastmilk is and should be his primary food.
Feeding a baby is really simple. I think the best thing to do is give them as little food as possible until they are about 8-12 months old. I see so many parents feed babies food they shouldn’t be eating, digestion is a hard thing when a little tummy is used to only one or two different things like breastmilk and rice cereal. I always go to Wholesome Baby Food for answers to my questions about what my baby can eat. Check it out, it’s my favorite baby food related site.

…National Park that is. With more than 83 million acres and beautiful, scenic spot in all states except Delaware, the National Park System gives us the best places to go with our children and most people can make it a day trip. The outdoors gives them the ability to explore (and us to explore with them.) There’s nothing better than getting out of the house and letting the mind soak up scenery and the imagination wander. The New Breastfeeding Symbol
We now have a public breastfeeding symbol. Just like the men’s and women’s restrooms, handicap, and no smoking signs this breasfeeding sign will denote places where breastfeeding is welcome and a woman can feed her child in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.
Although breastfeeding doesn’t require a special place and mothers everywhere should never have to feel as though breastfeeding in public is inappropriate, it is nice to have a quiet place to sit down and that place shouldn’t be signified with a bottle or rattle like the rooms at Sea World and other places. The media already puts enough emphasis on bottle-feeding….But you can help! Read more…

Most people think they need antibiotics to get rid of their childs cold. Parents who can’t take time off for work can be even more tempted to overuse antibiotics. In the past, I’ve taken antibiotics so that my cold wouldn’t turn into a sinus infection. Want some reasons to not use antibiotics the next time you or your child comes down with “what’s going around.” Read more…
