How to Use & Care for Fuzzi Bunz Diapers

Need to know about how to take care of your Fuzzi Bunz Diapers. Read more here…

Using Fuzzi Bunz Diapers

Storing soiled diapers and washing cloth diapers correctly is an important factor in extending the life of your cloth diapers. When using Fuzzi Bunz you will want to use a dry pail. Soaking Fuzzi Bunz is bad for the polyurethane laminate (PUL) and can make the lining seperate so don’t soak them in the wash machine for any longer than the soak cycle would usually run. Change the entire diaper at each diaper change since Fuzzi Bunz are reusable diapers. If there are solids on the diaper, knock them into the toilet and flush! (The toilet is the best place for poop!) Remove the insert and place in pail. I seperate the wet insert from the Fuzzi Bunz diaper buy placing a smaller diaper pail tote bag inside of the larger tote bag that lines my diaper pail.

Washing Fuzzi Bunz Diapers

Use a cold rinse or soak cycle first. This will remove any solids and the cold water keeps stains from setting. Now you wash your diapers on a hot wash / cold rinse cycle with a detergent. If diapers were really dirty, use a second cold rinse cycle.

What Detergents to Use

Charlie’s Soap and Allen’s Naturally Detergent are the top recommendations by the manufacturer for use on Fuzzi Bunz but these are only available on line for most people. Charlie’s Soap is the best buy and you get free shipping when you buy from their website. Other detergents you can use to wash Fuzzi Bunz are Tide Regular or Free, Cheer Regular or Free, Arm and Hammer Regular or Free, E-Cover or Purex.

What Not to Use

Beware of using detergent sold in health food stores. Most are made with citrus oils and this may cause the diapers to leak by repelling urine since the oil left on the diapers doesn’t mix with water. The makers of Fuzzi Bunz have actually tested many of the natural detergents and have concluded that Allen’s Naturally, Charlie’s Soap and E-Cover are the only detergents that effectively clean Fuzzi Bunz diapers. Dreft has fabric softeners which you never want to use on diapers because fabric softeners will repel liquid absorption. Pure castile soaps leave a residue on diapers (this can cause stinky build-up.) And never use bleach on your cloth diapers!

Drying Fuzzi Bunz Diapers

Always dry Fuzzi Bunz on a low setting when using the dryer and do not use dryer sheets. Remember that you never want to dry microfiber terry cloth inserts on a high setting either, so use a low setting with these also. Fuzzi Bunz diapers can also be hung out to dry in the sun. This is an efficient way to dry diapers and inserts and the sun naturally whitens them.
