Running with My Daughter
Jaden came bounding out of her room today exclaiming that she wanted to go on a run. Immediately I replied to her with the same excitement, we just needed to finish baking the practically paleo and grain-free muffins we were cooking.
Then it started raining. Then I remembered I needed to go to the fabric store to pick up a piece of fabric to make my nephew a reversible superhero cape for his upcoming 4th birthday. So we did all these things and now dusk was settling in and dinner was getting prepped and we (or at the very least, I) was growing tired from the days work. Suddenly, Jaden was reminded by her own excitement of this deed that had been left undone and once again exclaimed with a bit of worry that we hadn’t gone on our run.
Wanting to help foster this love for physical activity that is growing inside her (and because my husband is so awesome) I dropped everything that was happening and said, “Let’s go!” After all, it is spontaneous runs that always bring me the most joy. We ran at a light pace for at least 20 minutes. She loved every moment of it and told me so many things along the way.
I adore this time with her and we both love to talk about how running helps us with many things in our life including self-discipline and of course healthier bodies. I am really excited that Jaden has reached this age where we can do even more things together and share more conversation.
